the person in charge of buying, assessing, storing and selling grain in a particular grain elevator (see Image 1).
Type: 1. Origin — What is called an elevator manager in Canada is usually the elevator man in the US. The form is most prevalent in Canadian English compared with American English (see Chart 1). Within Canada, the expression predominates in Saskatchewan and Manitoba (see Chart 2).
